Pui Tak Center
2216 South Wentworth Ave.
Continue walking south on Wentworth Avenue. The Pui Tak Center sits just south of Chinatown Gate on the west side of Wentworth. Built in the 1920s, the building's facade contains traditional Chinese design with towering pagodas and beautiful terra cotta walls.
Formerly the On Leong Merchant Association Building, the Chinese Christian Union Church purchased the building in 1993. Each year, the CCUC serves over 3,000 individuals who live in Chicago’s Chinatown and surrounding communities with services such as adult education and training, youth programs, music programs and new immigrant services.
The 30,000 square foot building is Chinatown’s only historical landmark. In Chinese, “pui tak” means to build character or cultivate virtue.
