After strolling around Buckingham Fountain, you may want to get a little closer to Lake Michigan. If you do, cross DuSable Lake Shore Drive at one of the designated pedestrian crosswalks. Be sure to follow the “Walk / Don’t Walk” signals. DuSable Lake Shore Drive is an extremely wide and busy thoroughfare, so don’t try crossing elsewhere.

Once safely across the street, enjoy beautiful Lake Michigan, the boats and the harbor. You've done a lot of walking, and this is a perfect spot to sit along the lake and relax.

As an FYI, the lakefront jogging and biking path which you just crossed extends 18.5 miles, connecting Chicago's southside and northside neighborhoods. The views are incredible along the way. You don't need to do it all, but if you like biking, running, or walking, you should give it a try. The lakefront path also connects popular sightseeing destinations like Museum Campus (to the south) with Navy Pier (to the north).
