Continue walking east to the end of Navy Pier, to an area called East End Plaza. East End Plaza is another wonderful place to sit, relax, and take in the beauty of Lake Michigan and the city.
The large interior space adjacent to the plaza is the Grand Ballroom. Built in 1916, the Grand Ballroom has an 80-foot-high domed ceiling and panoramic views of Lake Michigan. Today, it is the setting for numerous public and private events.
East End Plaza is also home to one of our favorite sculptures on the Pier -- a tribute to Bob Newhart’s 1970’s television sitcom, which was set in Chicago. The sculpture has Bob -- who played a psychologist -- sitting on his couch waiting to hear your problems.
You've reached the farthest point on the pier and have completed our Navy Pier tour -- congratulations! When finished admiring the lake views, stroll back west along the pier to your starting point. To return to our main menu of free, self-guided walking tours, tap the "Home" button.
