Midwest Buddhist Temple

435 West Menomonee Street

Continue walking north on Hudson until it dead-ends behind the Midwest Buddhist Temple. Walk east to Fern Court (notice the interesting homes on Fern), then north to Menomonee Street. On your left is the Midwest Buddhist Temple.

An unusual sight in the neighborhood, this pagoda-style Temple of Enlightenment was dedicated in 1971. The temple was designed by architect Hideaki Arao, and the tolling of the kansho (the large bell) prior to services is a familiar sound on Sunday mornings.

If you happen to be in town during August, you may catch the temple's Ginza Holiday, which is a three-day food and cultural festival.
