Grohmann Museum
1000 N. Broadway
Continue walking south on Broadway to State Street. On the northeast corner sits the MSOE's Grohmann Museum. This museum is home to the world’s most comprehensive art collection dedicated to the evolution of human work.
The collection, "Man at Work", is comprised of more than 1,300 paintings and sculptures from 1580 to the present. They reflect a variety of artistic styles and subjects that document the evolution of organized work. From farming and mining to trades (such as glassblowing and seaweed gathering) to machines and industrialism. Most of the artwork is by German and Dutch artists, although others include American, Austrian, Belgian, Bohemian, Danish, Dutch, English, Hungarian, Flemish, French and Spanish.
The Grohmann Museum is named in honor of Dr. Eckhart Grohmann, an MSOE Regent, Milwaukee businessman and avid art collector, who donated this collection to MSOE in 2001. He also provided the funds to purchase, renovate and operate the museum that bears his name.
If you have the time, it's definitely worth a visit to the museum.
When done at the Grohmann Museum, begin walking east on State Street. Cross Milwaukee Street and continue through the MSOE campus.
