Walk around the southern edge of the Great Lawn to the BP Bridge. This 925-foot fancifully curved bridge, also designed by Frank Gehry, is just plain fun to walk. Covered in brushed stainless-steel panels that balance nicely with the design of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the bridge also serves a couple of practical purposes. Its design prevents traffic noise from Columbus Drive -- the very busy roadway below -- from reaching the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. It also serves as a safe and accessible connector linking Millennium Park and Maggie Daley Park.
Once you cross the bridge, you'll find yourself in Maggie Daley Park -- named after ex-Mayor Richard M. Daley's late wife. Opened in 2015, this is a family-focused park with climbing walls, play gardens, an Enchanted Forest, a Slide Garden and play areas for toddlers. There is also a Wave Lawn for additional fun. In the winter, the park is home to a unique ice skating ribbon that is used for roller skating in the summer. If you have kids, you'll probably want to spend some time in Maggie Daley Park.
