Jay Pritzker Pavilion and Great Lawn
Millennium Park
Audio Tour
With your back to Cloud Gate, walk east to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the Great Lawn.
Designed by Frank Gehry, this concert venue can hold approximately 14,000 patrons, 4,000 in the fixed seats and 10,000 on the 95,000 square foot lawn. The pavilion stands 120 feet high, with the curved steel trellis system over the seating area supporting a state-of-the-art sound system. The system -- the first of its kind in the world -- distributes enhanced sound equally over both the fixed seats and the lawn, giving it the acoustics of an indoor concert hall. Needless to say, this is an outstanding outdoor music venue.
If you have the opportunity during the summer, make time for one of the many early evening Grant Park Orchestra or other FREE concerts. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion is also home to several of the city's summer music festivals.
